Matte Pat Cut
SonoLab
2015
In this multi-disciplinary performance SonoLab, together with a composer/sound artist Yota Morimoto and a visual artist Nishiko attends to the subtlety of sound, noise, images and matter, combining them into a live performance. The video features ubiquitous patterns of raw materials, nature or artifacts, which at times serve as a guide for the musicians other than setting diverse visual sceneries. As a sonic counterpart, the performers engage in activating the raw materiality of objects and explore nuances of their resonance. Matte Pat Cut is a continuation within a series of concerts where Sonolab invites and fosters collaboration between artists of different disciplines, developing concepts and subjects of public interest by exposing different media and performance practices.
